The Jewel has become a landmark store for jewelry enthusiasts and rockhounds who share a passion for fine precious gems and rare materials. In our Central Oregon storefront and online we feature a spectacular collection of jewelry designed by over 40 national and Oregonian artists working in silver, gold and mixed metals. The Jewel also carries a selection of home interior art pieces made from Earth’s natural materials and an abundance of museum quality minerals and fossils. Our gallery of rare specimens and fine jewelry create a truly unique store that has something for everyone to fall in love with.

Our Expanded Area
We are proud to be a part of the broader Central Oregon metropolitan area, and have had gallery locations in Bend several times over our 30+ years of business. Our regular clientele travels from Sunriver, Bend, Redmond, Prineville, Madras, Terrebonne, and further beyond the Cascades. We often perform customized projects over long distance, and regularly ship items to various parts of the country (even internationally!).
Meet our Design Team
Jan Daggett
Owner/ Designer
The creative force behind The Jewel, is owner/designer Jan Daggett. With over 40 years experience in the gem, jewelry & mineral trade, her background is as diverse as her gallery. In the 1970's her early designs were featured on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. By the 1980's she was operating her own mine in Montana, selling mineral collections to the Smithsonian and other museums. In 1991 she sold the mine for seed money to open The Jewel in Sisters OR. As a natural artist, gem cutter and precious metal sculptor, Jan is renowned for her innovative designs and creative use of fine gems & materials.
Michelle Mathieu
Manager/ Gemologist
Three dimensional art classes in high school offered my first opportunities to develop the skills to design and make my own masterpieces, and my teacher quickly became my mentor. After applying for a scholarship to the Gemological Institute of America, I received a full scholarship to complete my degree. I continued fabricating jewelry and casting wax molds for the next six years. I came to The Jewel as a Graduate Gemologist yet continue to learn and grow thanks to the sheer amount of rare materials and top-grade gems and minerals that we have to offer. I find myself fortunate that I get to spend my days with such incredible works of art, and enjoy sharing in that awe with all of our clients.
